Noir is a complex and interesting scent. I detect tea and almost some earthy and/or leathery scents. Definitely unique and layered, which is right up my alley. As far as in beard feel and styling, I’ve had a very good to great experience thus far. The oil is right in my wheelhouse for viscosity, it absorbs great, and my beard styles very well. It’s a solid solid oil, not to mention, the blend is an all-star combo which is why I gave it a shot to begin with!

More product is not always the answer. A beard can remain dry because of frequent washing, hard water, dry air, heat, or because the formula being used does not provide enough conditioning for the hair.
The quality and balance of the raw materials also matter. Oils that share the same name can differ considerably in freshness, processing, storage, odor, and feel. Folium does not select ingredients simply because they are inexpensive or readily available. We source our materials deliberately and build each formula around how the finished product performs on the beard and skin.
The goal is not to leave the beard coated. It is to improve softness, reduce a dry or coarse feel, and leave the beard conditioned without unnecessary grease or weight.
Folium is built around science-first formulations. We consider the fatty-acid composition, emollient properties, and stability of the oils and butters we use, and how they work together to condition coarse or dry beard hair. Each material is chosen with one goal in mind: to bring the beard as close as possible to its softest state while keeping the skin beneath conditioned and comfortable.
Scent comes from a different discipline: perfumery. When fragrance is used, it is composed with structure and development rather than treated as an afterthought.
If you are new to beard care, start with a beard oil. It's the simplest way to condition the beard and skin beneath without adding much weight.
Choose a beard butter if your beard is especially coarse, dry, or needs richer conditioning and light control. If you want both, a set lets you use oil first and butter as needed for additional softness and conditioning.
Choose LUMEN if you prefer unscented beard care. Choose NOIR if you want conditioning paired with a composed fragrance.
Folium may not be the right choice if you are looking for a product that promises faster beard growth, firm styling hold, or one intended to treat eczema, dermatitis, or another skin condition.
